The Final CERES Hackathon in Bulgaria: Innovation for a Circular Future
10 Aprile 2026
The final CERES Hackathon recently took place in Bulgaria, hosted and organised by our partner Cleantech Bulgaria, bringing together students, professionals, innovators, and companies to collaborate on real circular economy challenges.
Over the course of the hackathon, participants worked in teams to develop practical and innovative solutions inspired by real-world problems proposed by companies and stakeholders. The event became a space for creativity, experimentation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, highlighting the importance of connecting education, innovation, and sustainability.
The ideas developed during the hackathon addressed a wide range of topics connected to the circular transition — from improving urban mobility systems to advancing sustainability practices within the construction sector. Through collaborative work and mentorship, participants transformed challenges into impactful proposals with the potential to contribute to more sustainable and resilient systems.

Beyond the competition itself, the CERES Hackathons represented an important opportunity to foster new skills, encourage teamwork, and strengthen dialogue between learners, professionals, and industry actors. They demonstrated how innovation ecosystems can support meaningful learning experiences while generating tangible ideas for the circular economy.
We would like to congratulate all participants, mentors, and winning teams for their passion, commitment, and creativity throughout this experience.
The CERES journey is continuing, and more updates on the hackathons’ impact and future opportunities will be shared soon.
