Implementing courses

Implementing updated curricula through courses and modules.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

From curricula to certification and practice

The CERES Training Path is implemented through a combination of structured learning, hands-on activities, and formal assessment, ensuring that skills are not only acquired but also applied and validated.

CERES Curricula
Core & Specialised Training

1. Core Courses (MOOCs)

  • 4 online courses, delivered as MOOCs
  • Fully asynchronous and accessible at any time
  • Designed to build a strong foundation in circular economy principles, tools, and approaches

Each Core Course includes:

  • Recorded lectures accessible through the CERES Hub
  • Structured learning units
  • Readings, case studies, and learning resources

2.Specialised Modules (Hybrid)

Advanced training modules focusing on applied and sector-specific topics.

  • Delivered in hybrid format (online + in-person sessions)
  • Designed to deepen expertise and connect learning to real operational contexts

Specialised Modules:

  • Circular Lifecycle Management
  • End-of-Life Product Management

Each module includes:

  • Live lectures and expert-led sessions
  • Recordings and materials available on the CERES Hub
  • Applied case studies and sector-specific insights

CERES Certification Path

Certification is an integral part of the implementation and allows learners to formally validate their skills.

The certification path is modular and progressive, based on the number of exams successfully completed:

  • Beginner → 2 Core Courses
  • Intermediate → 4 Core Courses
  • Specialist → 4 Core Courses + 1 Specialised Module
  • Leader → 4 Core Courses + 2 Specialised Modules

Exams

  • Exams are taken via the CERES LMS Platform
  • Online, time-limited, and invigilated
  • Multiple exams can be taken in the same session, according to the learner’s progression

Detailed procedures, exam formats, and dates are explained in the CERES Trainee Guide and in the CERES Certification Path section of the Hub.

CERES Hackathons
Learning in Practice

Hackathons are a core implementation tool of the Training Path.

  • Learners work in teams of 2–5 participants
  • Challenges are proposed by real companies and organisations
  • Participants receive mentoring from experts and practitioners
  • Teams develop and present solutions through a final video pitch

Hackathons allow participants to:

  • Apply skills in real-world scenarios
  • Strengthen teamwork and problem-solving abilities
  • Connect with companies and innovation ecosystems

All participants receive a Hackathon Certificate.

Key tools

HOw are we achieving our objectives

Throughout the CERES project, we’re actively working to update and improve circular economy training, ensuring it aligns with the latest industry needs.

Our approach follows key actions for each of the four steps:

  1. Assessing the Gap
We begin by identifying the gap between existing curricula and the skills required by the market. This is done through surveys, interviews, and market analysis to pinpoint critical skills for circular economy professionals.
  2. Developing Updated Curricula
With our research findings, HE and VET partner institutions worked hard to updated curricula that reflect market demands and equip learners with the skills needed for the circular economy.
  3. Implementing the Curricula
The updated curricula are implemented through pilot programs, online platforms, and workshops, making them accessible to students and professionals across various sectors.
  4. Building the CE-DIH Platform
To support learning and collaboration, we’re creating the CE-DIH—an online hub for learning materials, networking, and real-world circular economy applications.
